Overview

We provide a comprehensive one day Safety Awareness programme to prepare the personnel of a development and relief agency for future long term development projects or emergency relief situations.

A large global reach

The UK branch of this organisation is part of a network of 120 offices around the world. Their UK regional office runs projects in Asia, Africa and South America, and is currently focussed on work in Rwanda, Mongolia, Nepal, Myanmar, Mali, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Haiti, Somalia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Chad and Peru.

Thoroughly preparing delegates

The organisation’s infrastructure on the ground includes local field offices, own vehicles, and comprehensive safety and security protocols. In order to ensure that delegates feel thoroughly prepared to operate across such a diverse range of countries, we worked to develop a course that could provide their staff with a key skillset for managing their own security and safety whilst on task.

Modules covered include:

• Cultural awareness - relevant to the client’s fields of operation
• Security and situation awareness
• Conflict resolution
• Travel and hotel security
• Kidnap and ransom (K&R)
• Personal protective equipment (PPE), clothing and use of grab bags
• Use of guides and foreign drivers
• Mine awareness
• Weapon awareness
• Stress and hygiene
